Thinking of upgrading new version 10

Fusion 8.5 - macOS Sierra 10.12 (GM) - MacBook Pro Camera Malfunction

I was waiting to report this until both Fusion 8.5 and the Sierra golden master were out, but the problem persists.

I have a Mid 2012 Retina MacBook Pro with a built-in FaceTime HD Camera (UVC Camera VendorID_1452 ProductID_34064).

After I start a virtual machine the camera cannot be turned on by any other application (FaceTime, Photo Booth, Skype).  The camera remains unresponsive even after shutting down virtual machines and quitting Fusion, until I reboot the MacBook.  If another app is using the camera when I start a Fusion VM, the camera continues to work until I close the other app, then it will not reactivate if I restart the other app.

Has anyone else experienced this?  Can anyone suggest a resolution?  I'm happy to provide more information if necessary.  Thanks!

Hi there,

I have a problem in environment below. It took so long to shut Windows guest OS down and I am not sure it's shut down or not. Because, The windows was became black without any GUI in the Guest window. I just clicked it and run it automatically. But It's taking so long to up and have not seen any login box yet. Does someone have same issue? I was virtual box user and tried Fusion in this time.

Pixma MX922 Prints on a 1/4 page

I just upgraded to Fusion 10.0.1 and a problem reappeared that had been fixed in Fusion 8. I have two Canon MX922 printers using Driver version 16.10.0.0. They were both printing normal 8.5x11 pages appropriately, but now they are printing in the top left 1/4 page. I can't find a way to change this or a workaround. Any help?

Cannot find a valid peer process to connect to

I'm running VMware 5.0.5 on a Mountain Lion iMac. I have just finished setting up a new Windows 8.1 VM here. When I should clean up the virtual disk it just froze though and after that I can no longer start this virtual machine (message above appears). I suppose that it has become corrupted. Is there a way to repair such a machine?

I attach a fresh .tgz-file here if it helps...

VMWare Fusion 10.0.1 doesn't see USB devices anymore

My previous setup was:

MacOS 10.12 Sierra

VMWare Fusion 7.1, running

- Windows 7

- Windows 10

All was fine until I upgraded to MacOS 10.13, High Sierra.

Started VMWare Fusion, all well. Started the Windows 7 VM and my iMac crashed instantly. Split second.

Upgraded to VMWareFusion 10.0.1.

Got the "System Extension Blocked" message and allowed VMWare Fusion in the MacOS Security & Privacy settings.

But both Windows 7 and Windows 10 VM's don't see USB devices anymore. No error message, no warning. They just don't see them.

I Googled around, even saw the other post related the subject below, but no solution found.

???

Edit: Completely removed VMWare Fusion and did a clean install. Still the same problem...

Edit 2: Shouldn't there be an usbarbitrator service running in the VM's? I don't see any. Also /var/run/vmware doesn't show anything related.

Edit 3: The service usbarbitration (on the host) doesn't run. /Library/Logs/VMware USB Arbitrator Service.log contents:

2017-10-07T19:47:01.361| ServiceImpl_Daemon: PID 833

2017-10-07T19:47:01.362| ServiceImplRef: Before start().

2017-10-07T19:47:01.576| Warning: UsbarbServiceCommon: exit status 6912.

2017-10-07T19:47:01.576| ServiceImplRef: After start().

2017-10-07T19:47:01.576| ServiceImplDaemon: Exiting with code 0.

Started VMWare Fusion and started usbarbitrator by hand: sudo /Applications/VMware\ Fusion.app/Contents/Library/vmware-usbarbitrator --kext /Applications/VMware\ Fusion.app/Contents/Library/kexts/vmioplug.kext

Same results, not working, not running. And log file shows the same.

Beats me.

CentOS Guest on Fusion 10.0.1: Display resolution keeps resetting

$

Environment is:

MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016)

Sierra 10.12.6

Fusion 10, patches up to date.

Current CentOS distro, vanilla install, has open-vm-tools and open-vm-tools-desktop.

The issue is that the display gets reset to maximum resolution every time I swipe back and forth between the VM and MacOS. If I turn off max Retina display resolution the display reverts to low resolution on a swipe.

The CentOS community seems to think this is a VMWare problem.

I'm new to reporting problems here so if more information is needed, let me know what it is and I will do my best to provide it.

All my VMs were running fine on High Sierra under VMWare Fusion 10.0.1. After installing the Mac OS Supplemental Update last week, all the network adapters do not connect, nor can I change any of them in Preferences.

Permission destruction?

When I performed an upgrade from 8.5.6 to 8.5.7, I was asked for my password. Upon providing this, the system began to exhibit odd crashes and errors several minutes later. I found that chmod was running and changed all of my entire file system permissions to root:wheel. I was able to reset these through much work, but it appears that VMWare Fusion is having some very serious problems with this upgrade.

Fusion 10 breaks bluetooth on macbook

If I close Fusion (after I've been using Windows XP VM for example), sometimes I lose bluetooth. It is lost entirely... bluetooth icon at the right side of my macbook's menu bar says "Bluetooth not available". It will not come back until I restart macos. This is Fusion Pro 10.0.1 on High Sierra supplemental update. It's a real nuissance because I use my macbook in clamshell mode with bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Can't use them without bluetooth.

Hi,

I'm trying to install Windows 10 and win 7 ISO files with VMware fusion 8 on MacOS High Sierra, and I get the following error: Could not open /dev/vmmon: No such file or directory. Please make sure that the kernel module `vmmon' is loaded.

Please help me.

VMXNET3 : No internet connection? e1000e : Internet connection works fine?

FINALLY figured out that the e1000e driver is slow as hell on my network.  VMXNET3 works SO much faster... the only problem with VMXNET3 is that the internet stops working, I can't ping google.com but I can ping 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS).  So, DNS issue, right?  Tried changing my DNS settings around and such.. no luck.

Any ideas?  Would LOVE to use VMXNET3   This completely sucks.  As soon as I edit the .vmx and replace "vmxnet3" with "e1000e" (for the network interface) everything starts working, just very slow.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.  I've been working on this for weeks... finally figured it out and now this brick wall.

Thanks

High Sierra, Fusion 8.5.8 and Bluetooth

Hello everyone,

I have a late 2009 iMac i7 (11,1).

When I was running Fusion 8 on Sierra, whenever I would power off my Windows VMs and close VMware, the keyboard and mouse would lose keyboard and mouse (both bluetooth) but would almost instantly reconnect and I never had an issue.

I then upgraded to High Sierra (fully supported on my MAC), but I could NOT upgrade to Fusion 10 since it no longer supports my MAC (it did let me install it however). This has me a little upset since VMware dropped support for a fully supported Mac setup. But, I moved on.

I performed a clean install of High Sierra (something I normally do and not related to this problem) and installed Fusion 8.5.8.

All seems to work fine. But when I close my Windows VM and then close Fusion, bluetooth stops functioning. And the difference this time is that it doesn't recover. Not only that, but if I plug a wired mouse into the machine and go to the BLUETOOTH control panel, Bluetooth appears to be disabled and I cannot turn it on. A reboot solves the problem.

I'm hoping there is a patch coming.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

I upgraded VMware fusion from 8.5.8 to 10.0.1, and I started macOS Hifh sierra 10.13 (it ihas been used on VMware 8.5.8 and works OK) on it.

1) Screen on 8.5.8

1.png

(This is on VMware 8.5.8)

2) Screen after upgrading to 10.0.1 (before updating VMware tools)

2.png

(This is on VMware 10.0.1)

But after installing VMware tool (10.1.16) the screen setting became abnormal as attached snapshot!

3) Afrer installing VMware tools (10.1.6)

3.png

The display settins is as follows;

4)  setting of display

4.png

By changing to "display default", it become the normal screen;

5) Setting change to display default.

5.png

But after restaring or turning on the guest OS, the screen become the same screen as the above snapshot 3)!!

So I can not use macOS High sierra on VMware 10.0.1 and VMware tool 10.1.16 !!!

Keyboard not working after migration of Windows 10 with VMware Fusion 10

I upgraded to VMware Fusion 10 and migrated a Windows 10 Professional installation to my Macbook Pro 13" Retina.  The migration completed but when I tried to type in the password nothing worked.  I had to use the sticky onscreen keyboard.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the VMware Tools.  I deleted the device and reinstalled VMware tools and still does not recognize.  There is the yellow error icon on the PS/2 keyboard. There are also two other errors on the device manager, mouse and the multi audio device.

Not being able to type makes this version useless.  I am hoping for a quick response, or I will back date and try to use 8.  If this fails, I will try to use Parallels.

Opening Mail Attachments in Win7 with VM Fusion

I've been using VM Fusion for a few years and am mostly very happy with it. I use it on a MAC with Win7 running in the VM. There's just one problem, which appears to be intermittent.

If I try and open a mail attachment by double clicking on it, the process switches me to the Win7 environment but then goes no further. If I Quit VM Fusion and restart it again, the problem goes away and this operation will work just fine, for an indefinite period (perhaps several days), and then it just stops working again.

Has anyone else experienced this and I appreciate any suggestions.

Upload Fusion VM to vSphere using OVF Tool

$

So I was following this set of guidelinesL https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/99433/moving-fusion-vms-to-esxi to help move Fusion VMs to ESXi host, and saw an answer which uses the OVF Tool to do it in one line instead.

I have a Fusion created `test.vmwarevm`, which contains the `test.vmx` file within and other associated files, and following the OVF Tool guidelines, I can set the `test.vmx` file to be uploaded to the ESXi host with something along the lines of:

ovftool --compress=9 -ds=datastore1 --network=VM-Network test.vmx vi://ip-of-esxi/

And although the command succeeds, it takes around 1 second to upload 40GBs of vmdk files? So when I attempt to run the VM in the ESXi host, it fails...

Can anyone suggest something which I've done wrong or a better way of doing it?

Slow Win10 performance on OSX 10.11 Fusion 8

$

Wondering if anyone has very unresponsive and lagging performance running Windows 10 Pro on Fusion 8 with OSX 10.11.

I use a MBPro (Late 2013) 15" Retina with external 4K monitor, resolution is great but the performance of tabbing, moving the mouse, opening & closing programs is crippling.

On Fusion 7 with the same hardware i had Win 7 running perfectly, it did require a vmware hardware downgrade to 10 for it to work.

Have tried the same method on Win 10 but still not running as smooth as i am sure it can, anyone got any advice?

Thanks in advance!
